Why I shouldn’t go to Costco – I go planning to spend $20-40 and usually leave with over $100 of stuff…..

Today:

Commuted to work

Tried to carry everything in one trip

Watched everything but the bottom box I was holding drop to the wet ground

Worked

Got lost on the way to lunch

Great food & company for lunch

Got lost on the way back

Work some more

As yet unknown

Rainy days…

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

Are here again! Lala la!

Rain rain

come and stay

in your puddles

I will play!

It’s raining!

It’s pouring!

The old man in snoring!

He bumped his head

When he went to bed

And couldn’t get up in the morning!

Ok, so driving in the rain isn’t safe, and being stuck for a long time out in it isn’t that fun either. But I love watching the rain trail down windows, listening to it pattering against windows & roof, and wearing boots to go stomp around in puddles, or leaning out the door so I stay mostly dry but can feel the rain on my face. I need to get a window put in my living room wall so I can sit in front of the fireplace and watch the rain on the window and just feel all nice and cozy.

Last night I just finished rewatching Oh, My Goddess (Aa, Megamisama) with MM. I really do need to get around to buying that and the movie on dvd. One more thing to save up for once I pay off my debt. Also time to do my Christmas budget as I’ve already bought a few gifts. And tonight is Costco shopping, so a budget will help me restrain myself. Hopefully. :)

You know it’s bad when….

You have to read someone else’ blog to remember events in your own life.

So we had some time to kill Saturday night waiting for PH to get back from the dinner thingy he was dragged to. So I popped in this short and very odd/silly anime called Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, loosely based on – duh – Alice in Wonderland. This was CLAMP’s attempt at being mildly naughty, they didn’t do a great job of this and I knew nothing other than “CLAMP does pretty stuff!” when I bought it. Now I find it hilarious to see people’s reaction. Some are confused, some annoyed, and some actually find it funny like I do. The reaction Saturday night was that it was a total tease that put at least one member of the group into a p0rn deficiency which had to be remidied quickly. So I was dragged off with the group, luckily, not thinking I’d need my purse, I left it (and my id) behind. No id, no entry, so I got off the hook scott free. I waited briefly in the car until CS came out to take me home. The exhorbitant prices there foiled the groups evil plot to buy me p0rn whether I wanted it or not. So we waited at home for them to finish laughing over the cheesy titles. After they got back there was much joking about the small and very pricey selection. And talk about what the heck they’d do with a 3 inch item they found if they had bought it, since 3 inches was considered too small for its actual purpose. Paperweight, especially a paperweight gift to PH was the favorite option. Although a hat decoration was briefly considered. So there was my excitement for the weekend. :)

Roleplaying: a type of game where geeks get together and play make-believe using dice and a few rules.

- Me

I am Galadriel

Monday, October 18th, 2004

Just like most other people, unless the ballots were stuffed.

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

Possessing a rare combination of wisdom and humility, while serenely dominating your environment you selflessly use your powers to care for others.

Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.

Galadriel is a character in the Middle-Earth universe.

Busy weekend

Monday, October 18th, 2004

Let’s see, Friday the gang descended and settled in for a long night of roleplaying while I watched the “Return to Snowy River.” Which wasn’t nearly as good as the first movie “The Man from Snowy River,” but I still mostly enjoyed it. Pizza for dinner was num num too. They didn’t go to sleep until sometime around 6am. I snuck out to go to my appointment and brought back bearclaws. In the process I found out that the ones in the packages are the day old ones left over (they didn’t have any bearclaws packaged) and that you can get a box by asking at the counter (they even gave me a price label sticker) and pick out fresh ones from the bins.

After that the gang regrouped (some came back, the rest that crashed woke up) and dove back into more role-playing. I just finished watching the Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) dvds, and I sooo can’t wait to see the next one which comes out soon. X (the first dvd of the tv series) came in the mail too, and it is so pretty, probably the prettiest CLAMP animation I’ve seen so far. If you don’t know what’s going on it’s a bit confusing, but basically you’re filled in as the characters are, so things are confusing at first because the plot is so complicated. The characters and great fight scenes make it easy watching though, even if you’re not sure why things are happening yet.

I think the gang was up till 4am this time, all I know is almost everyone was gone when I got up the next morning. I spent most of the day lazing around, but I did manage to get 3 loads of laundry and a load of dishes done. Yay me! The kitties were thrilled to relax in bed with me too after their fun but exhausting last 2 days entertaining and being entertained by the guests. They especially enjoyed the fresh air from the window I opened so we could all appreciate the soft gray skies and cool breezes we had all day. I love the fall weather, the cloudy skies that don’t hurt my eyes, cool air that doesn’t make me miserable. That and it means that soon I’ll be gearing up for Christmas! :) Oh and CS had fun helping me install my new windshield wipers. I didn’t think of it until after dark once it started sprinkling, luckily it turned out to be pretty easy and the new ones work great so far. Then I got to leave 20 minutes early this morning to gas up the car, because I managed to forget that this weekend too.

Goals for this week:

finish last load of laundry

file away papers in office

continue clearing off hutch in front of fireplace

prep for party (figure out what I’m going to bake & buy ingredients)

cranky hyper then, a bit sad now

Monday, October 18th, 2004

Oh, and I realized the other night that even though I was feeling hyper, I was actually exhausted and cranky – much like toddlers get when they’re wound up from too much activity and/or sugar. So now I have to learn to put myself to bed when I’m feeling that way, even if I don’t feel like I want to sleep. That or at least ask someone else to drag me off to bed, since I crashed out shortly after my head hit the pillow. PH is right, I really am just a little kid. Let’s see, using the old math I’m all of 7 (25 = 2+5) years old now. :) I haven’t felt that way in a long time now, but it’s nice to finally recognize what that weird hyper-silly-fussy mood is.

And I finally called the Herp Society to see about finding a new home for Calista. Sigh…. I’ve had her for 8 years and I love her, but I just don’t feel like she’s getting the care & attention she deserves, especially now that I have the cats. But they said that their foster homes are full and that boas & iguanas are the most common reptiles to need new homes. :( Maybe I’ll try to contact my old biology teacher and see if he wants her for the classroom. I feel so guilty about wanting to give her away, but I also feel like she & I would be better off with her in a new home. Bleh.

Weekend off the starboard bow captain!

Friday, October 15th, 2004

Weekend is almost here, I get to go see my therapist for lunch. I think I’ve been doing pretty well…. especially considering I haven’t had time to do the reading I meant to. But that was mainly because I was trying to not do too much and still get the things I needed to do and the things I most wanted to do done. This month is a bit crazy as far as weekends – Disneyland, then hosting a ShadowRun game – mainly so I get to see DN who is coming up from So. Cal., then hosting a Halloween party (possibly followed by going to another party), then another Halloween party to go to! Whew! So basically I’m not planning on doing anything else with anyone else the rest of the time. I need that time to relax and get at least a few chores done. Last night was dishes, so tonight will be laundry, as I’m finally running low on stuff to wear. If I go another week I’ll end up wearing skirts.

And I just learned how to do tranparency using tga files for games. Neat!

Hmmmm… & Anime Review

Friday, October 15th, 2004

So my therapist thinks I don’t need to see her anymore, but I’m not quite ready to let go of my security blanket yet, so we’re weaning me slowly. Next visit is in two months. Basically things are going really well and the only thing I’m unhappy about I’m working on (having good girlfriends). That and I found out heat can trigger my depression stuff, so I need to find someplace in CA (not too far from family) that is much cooler than Sac, is preferably nice and small and green, but not too far from a decent sized city with lots of stuff to do. Oh, and where I can afford to live. I’ll start doing research online, and follow up with visits next summer. And then we’ll see what happens if I actually manage to find someplace to fit the bill. That or I’ll just give in and wear those stupid looking evaporative cooler things around my neck from Sharper Image. :)

So all those fires are kicking so much ash into the air that it smells like a wood fire outside and the sky is a solid gray, even though there are no clouds. And the ash is so thick that you can see particles drifting down through the air, like dry snowflakes. The sun was an eerie red disk yesterday, with its light so filtered by the ash in the air that you could look straight at it. I hope it rains soon and puts the fires out.

I get to eat pizza & watch movies tonight. I’m way behind on Boys Over Flowers which I borrowed from Princess SP.

Oh! Anime Review time!

Weathering Continent
carrot peelings

Somewhat pretty, simple/boring plot, and no character development. Ugh.

Sentimental Journey
1 carrot

Based on the dating sim game, pretty characters, tiny bit of plot, but I think it’s probably much better if you’ve played the game. The stories touch on each of the 12 girls’ lives (one 20-30 minute episode each) some years or so after the game. I enjoyed it, but it isn’t one I’d make anyone watch, or even recommend, unless you’re like me and pretty pictures make you happy. :)

.hack/something or other – the one that came with the game
2 carrots

This was interesting and made me want to play the game (which watching the anime .hack/sign didn’t do, although I did enjoy it). Probably makes no sense unless you’ve played the game or seen the anime, or both. One more reason for me to get a ps2. Art isn’t nearly as pretty as .hack/sign.

Boys Over Flowers

Ok, so it is a shoujo (girl’s) series, but this drama (which plenty of comedic moments) will have you hooked (even if you’re a guy) once you sit down and start watching it. You might criticize the characters or make fun of some of the anime cliches, but you’ll still be hooked and want to know what happens next. Somewhat along the lines of Marmalade Boy. Shoujo comic style art (eh, I don’t care for it – luckily the plot is great), teen angst, misunderstandings, and serious & silly moments. And of course complicated love diagrams (they tend to go beyond triangles).
