Yay!!! I’m soooo glad I listened to my therapist. Talking to my boss made me feel like changing my hours wouldn’t happen. So I finally gave in and started looking for work. But since I was applying and interviewing for different jobs I decided I had nothing to lose by asking again. So the same day I interviewed I got a note from my doctor, and now all the paperwork has been done so I get to keep my job and work four day weeks! Yay!!!!! So now I’ll have to cut back on blogging, or maybe do it at night since now I have the motivation to really focus on work again.

Ch-ch-ch-changes
Wednesday, January 26th, 2005Monday I went with PH on the walk-through for his new place. It looks great and we only found a few minor things to fix. Then I got to go to CS’s place for some WoW. Tuesday I took off. I went to my interview and I think that went well, but I have to figure out if I can afford to only work 31 hours. I also got a note from my doctor about only working 30-35 hours a week. I spent the rest of the day doing chores and reading and watching movies. I saw Daredevil, which was a bit of a dissapointment. Spiderman had many similar elements but pulled things together much better. I also started watching Firefly which is an interesting series so far.
Today I turned in my doctors note. So now it’s just a waiting game to see if I get offered the library job or if they can reduce my hours at work. Which I think comes down to, they’d be willing to if they can do it without losing the budget. It sucks that being able to do more work in less time is actually a drawback. So we’ll see how things work out.
Movie review, sorta :)
Friday, January 21st, 2005I finally got around to watching Never Been Kissed from netflix last night. It was cute, and had amusing parts, but really it wasn’t that engaging of a movie. It was like they were trying to appeal to teens & adults… and ended up in this middle ground that did neither. I like Drew Barrymore, she’s cute, and I don’t feel like I wasted my time, but the movie isn’t one I’d recommend to anyone. And I’m glad CS & I didn’t have time to watch it after running errands Wednesday – he would have hated it I’m sure.
Patterns
Thursday, January 20th, 2005What I said:
I remember hearing/reading something about “Most people keep trying the same methods on the same problems over and over hoping for different results. What they don’t accept or realize is that to get different results, they have to use new methods.”
The quote someone shared:
“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” ~ Albert Einstein
I’m still here!

Slacked off at work more. Applied for jobs as an elementary school librarian. I really do love my job, coworkers and pay. I just can’t handle the 40 hours a week indefinitely. Just applying for the jobs made me feel much better. Since instead of running in worry circles about things, I’m actually trying to do something about the situation. Wish me luck. Benefits are almost as good, but with possibly lower pay and fewer hours, finances might be even tighter. Sigh….. just as I’m getting out of debt. At least that makes it possible at all.

Sigh…. I guess Saturday was so traumatic that I blocked the good memories along with the bad. I was being stupid and tried to pass when I shouldn’t. I ended up having to speed to get back in my lane. Right in front of the CHP guy. Sigh…. Luckily he was nice and wrote down a lower speed than I was actually going. So now I wait for the ticket from the courthouse. Pay that & sign up for traffic school. Thankfully I can do that online. So my first ticket ever. There goes another smudge on my goody-goody record I was so proud of. And if you thought I drove like a granny before…. heh. So that was the bad part. Although the good side is that I didn’t freak out or cry or anything (although my hands were shaking like crazy). I was very calm & polite and proud of myself for keeping it together. So the good part I forgot too? Spending time with mom and going to my cousin’s baby shower. It was good to see my cousins & their grandma and meet some of their friends & in-laws. My cousin was surprisingly small for being due Feb. 4th. We played a couple fun games and mom won the game where we chose a length of ribbon trying to guess how big around my cousin’s stomach was. All those sewing skills paid off.
And then we had fun oohing and aahing over the adorable stuff she got. Sooo cute! Seeing my cousin seeming to do well in pregnancy was a good thing, it makes the idea of being that way myself someday a bit less scary. Someday being years from now!

Saturday… hmmm… I think I just hung out with CS and played more WoW. I’m so hooked on that game. I read the forums. I read & post on my guild forums. I planned out my talent tree path. I’ve now grouped with enough people that I hardly even have to ask strangers to find a group for quests anymore. It’s flattering to sign on and almost right away have someone whisper me to find out if I’m working on any quests and want company. And I hit level 20 and got kitty form. Which was one of the main reasons I chose to play a druid. So I could become the pretty kitty. And I’ve found it very useful for sneaking past mobs to pick flowers (herbs).

Sunday CS & I went to play games at AP(m)’s place with MM, JL & TC. We started out with Settlers, the Knights & Cities variant. TC came closer to winning against MM & AP(m) than I ever have, but MM got a lucky draw. Really the game was between the three of them. JL, CS & I had no chance. Then we played a cool little tile game Cas-something I think… Anyway it was fun & I almost won, but drunken MM beat me. We also played Mario Party – which I suck at, I hate the little joystick control. And yeah, I came in last. Grrrrrr. Then we played this cool train game, I really want to play that again now that I have a better idea of the rules. CS & I played as a team since it’s a 5 player max game. We had to talk in code practically so we didn’t give away our strategy. We did pretty well, I think we came in 2nd or 3rd. Anyway, it’s always fun hanging out with that group, they always make me laugh a ton, which is always a good thing.
Jan 10
Monday, watched Bad Boys after work with CS.
Jan 11
Tuesday, did laundry & read more manga that RM shipped to me. He’s doing fine by the way, he’s in Kuwait at Camp New York waiting to go to Iraq.
Jan 12
Took the day off to take typing tests for the job applications. 57 words per minute the first one. 61 wpm the second one. Yay! The one application only required 50. Turned in on set of results and found out I don’t have to take a proficiency test after all. Yay! Spent the rest of the day with CS playing more WoW. Made it to level 23. I’ve spent something like 3 days and 19 hours on that game. And I’m still not bored! I think I would be if I got to play as much as CS does (he’s level 56!), but I don’t.
Not sure if that is good or bad. Anyway, had lots of fun.
Today
I’m going to write this blog backwards (starting at the bottom). I’ve been slacking off in keeping up to date for various reasons. Time to get back into the swing before I completely forget what I’ve been doing.
And here I am back to today. Got more laundry and dishes to do tonight. And I have a headache, yuck. But now I’m all caught up and I have leftover pizza for lunch.
Oh, and funny stuff: Star Wars meets Judge Judy
Friday at MacWorld
Tuesday, January 18th, 2005Friday PH & JP & I went to MacWorld for work. There was some interesting stuff and I had fun browsing. I picked up one of the electric massagers like my physical therapist uses. It seems to work really well since I ran out of muscle relaxants, but the nights that I used it I woke up ok the next morning – shouldn’t have skipped it last night no matter how late it was. I also ran into some fellow WoW fans that play on the same server I do which was neat. And then I sat down next to the Aspyr booth to try to pick up a wireless signal. Mainly because I had left my cell in PH’s car, so I wanted to instant message JP’s wife and have her call them and tell them where I was. First though I needed a connection. And all the good ones were password locked, and the other ones must have been dial-up or something, they just did not move. Luckily the guy at the table with me actually worked at the Aspyr booth and was super nice and signed me onto their network. So I was able to contact SP. The message got a bit garbled going from me to her to PH, but they ended up walking by and I managed to run up and grab them without my laptop walking away while I did it. I figure that I would have found them sooner or later anyway as I had a good view of the Mac Gaming Area. And while I was waiting I decided to check out the Aspyr site and found out they bought this great little utility for playing with icons on the Mac, and that it’s on Amazon.com, so it has been added to my huge wishlist. I also introduced myself to the owners of Klearscreen/iKlear since CS’s mom is friends with them. And entered lots of “win a free ipod” contests. Then we finished up and went to the Public Market in Emeryville for dinner and then home. To be followed of course by me going to CS’s for another fix of WoW.
Hi, my name is Jenny….
Tuesday, January 18th, 2005And I’m a World of Warcraft addict. I played most of Saturday… and a whole bunch Sunday…. until 2am in fact…. and then a bit more Monday morning. So I’m now level 24 and I did my first instance Sunday night (which was why I was up so late).
I did go home for a bit on Sunday and have some nap time with the kitties. I dropped my keys in the car as I was grabbing stuff to take in. I called AAA since my neighbor wasn’t home and then decided to at least do CS’s laundry while I waited since I could get into the garage. I open it up & there is my neighbor (I let him do laundry at my place & he plays with kitties & does stuff around the house for me). I was so happy to see him! So I cancelled AAA and went to nap with the kitties till CS got there 3-4 hours later.
Monday CS & I did chores at my place, including packing up most of the Christmas stuff. So now I just have a bit of rearranging to do. And I think I’ll be able to work my garage another step closer to being car ready.
Bunnies!!!
Friday, January 14th, 2005Happy lessons
Thursday, January 6th, 2005I got some cleaning done & watched a few more episodes of Happy Lesson last night. And yesterday I found two librarian positions that I’m going to apply for today. We’ll see how things go.
