Creeping back in….

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

My depression is kicking back in… but now it’s job related. Time to start looking for a new one. :/ I don’t know that I’ll ever find quite what I’m looking for, but I’m not willing to give up yet.

Sore Salsa Legs

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

I managed to get myself to go to Salsa night Thursday night and get some dancing in. I’m so out of shape I had to rest for 1-3 dances for every one I did, and was dripping sweat and breathing hard after every one. But I had a really good time so I plan to go back regularly.

Friday I moved into my new office (they moved us to new offices so they could give our window offices to faculty). That night MM and I watched the rest of the Fullmetal Alchemist we had, and the next disk should arrive today or Monday in the mail.

My legs were sore yesterday, but they’re really sore today. I need to go to my old house and finish packing up the kitchen and stuff sometime this weekend. I was hoping to go today, but haven’t heard back from my friend yet. Tonight I’m meeting up with some folks and going to see Ghostbusters in Central Park on a big inflatable screen.

Now to go find the cables for my dvd player and get it hooked up.

Dancing and Shopping

Last night was the last of the Monday night beginners dance class, so once I’m done blogging I’m going to go sign up for the continuing class - so I can continue to get exercise and admire the cute guys.

Plus, I found more pretties!

floral cards These floral cards are so elegant! I love the way the vines swirl around.

eggling These egglings are all over - I can’t wait till next spring when my house should be sold and I can landscape the new place.

This magnetic jewelry (Bubble, Disko, Twinkle) is really a neat idea.

Cute t-shirts (as if I don’t have enough clothing) - bunny, flower swirl, jackalope, paisley.

I’ve been looking at shoulder purses lately - I think inspired by my biking and dancing and wanting something I can carry securely without it getting in my way or dropping it. Though I’m not sure they’d live up to what I’m imagining. This ola bag is really cute though. In blue of course! Though I have been building up the pink in my wardrobe, and my bike is pink….

The Apple keynote was today and a coworker sent me this keynote blog link.

I’m drooling over the new ipod shuffle and the iTV coming in 2007, and I’ve already downloaded iTunes 7. Though I might not ever need the iTV if I get the Mac Pro and a 30″ Apple LCD for watching dvds and playing WoW. Those are my primary uses for my laptop and tv, though I do want to get back into playing with graphics more at some point.

And lastly… form and function! I love rocks and have a decent collection… and these ones work as plates and platters! Brazilian Agate Plate/Trivet Set & Brazilian Agate Large Plates. The large plates are even dishwasher safe!

Weekend

Monday, September 11th, 2006

So Friday I got some WoW in with Tora, then headed out to MMs to watch some more Inuyasha and Howl’s Moving Castle (very good - but Miyazaki stuff always is). I managed to have trouble getting home and had a minor panic attack, so that used up all my driving for the next week. So Saturday I slept and read and played WoW to recover. Sunday I got some more unpacking done then went to dinner with friends at California Fats and wandered around Old Town some. We got some candy at Candy Heaven and checked out Evangeline’s which has it’s costume shop open for Halloween now. And that’s about it!

IKEA

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Took Wednesday off to nurse a sore throat and just have a me day sleeping and reading. Today after work I found out the auto setting (so it heats or cools as needed) on my thermostat wasn’t enabled, so I made an appointment to get that done next Wednesday. Then it was off to IKEA to get the missing pieces for my Malm 2 drawer chest and my 15″ Billy bookcase. I checked shelf prices ($12 for the 30″, $6 for the 15″, so $72 for all the ones I need) and decided to wait to get those later. Tom joined me at IKEA and we went to BJ’s for dinner. He had the BBQ steak sandwich (very good) and I tried their calzone (I chose pepperoni and artichoke for the two toppings you get with it). It wasn’t all that impressive, and their artichoke hearts aren’t very good either. But of course the brownie sundae was delish as usual!

House!

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

So I’ve been living in the new place a couple weeks now.

The good:

Loooove the floors! And kitties love running across them.

Love the new ikea furniture - especially shelves! And my oh so comfy tempurpedic mattress :D

Love the quiet neighborhood and the short bike too and from work.

New door handles look great!

I’m loving the floor plan and paint job, and the shade out in the yard.

The bad:

Still waiting on a few last bits of flooring supplies to be delivered so installation can be finished.

New door handles don’t fit/work quite right. Most have to have the little strike plate off to open/close/latch.

Fridge is too tall… had cabinet removed because it was too wide… now need another cabinet moved up to make room for it.

Still have a list of minor things to be done, which probably won’t be totally complete till October sometime.

Much unpacking to be done….. bleh.

So hopefully my house will be all put together nice in time for an early holiday party this year. :D
