Dancing queen!

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

So an update:

Went to therapist last Wed. after which I talked to my boss and worked things out. So now I’m biking to work again and getting here on time and working 8 hour days. Monday I go to the two beginner classes and practice leading (or as I say, “I’m going to dance class to be a guy”) and Wed. I have continuing class and stay late to watch the intermediate class. The foxtrot and bolero stuff looked fun. Tonight is salsa, Friday T is going to stop by for stuff maybe, and MM is gonna come for dinner and/or anime maybe. Saturday I might go to Spotlight to dance, and Sunday I’m going to see my mom and my aunt and one of my cousins, and possibly my other cousin and her new baby if she’s not too tired.

Whew! So yeah, I’m keeping busy. I’m back down to 164, so 6 lbs down and 30 lbs to go till I’m back to my normal weight. Though I’m not sure if I’ll really get there with all this exercise since I’m building muscle. I just want my pants to fit again! Biking, stairs at work, dancing and 8 hour work days are tiring me out right now, I’m hoping with better diet and as I get in shape I’ll have more energy. But at least I do have the energy to work and dance, which I didn’t before.

Oh, and these look cool: http://www.digi-portraits.com/
I could probably do the same thing with enough practice… now finding the time to do so… ha!

And this is soooo cute! But I don’t love them $77 food dish much. :P That money goes to vet bills for annual checkups!

Thinking about them again cause my cousin just had her second… these slings look cute, much more versatile than those backpack ones.

ICE – In Case of Emergency

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

This is pretty clever:

ICE in your mobile phone

Since no one programs the word “husband” or “sibling” into a cell phone, rescue workers can waste precious time sifting through a patient’s phone book in cases of emergency. The original concept, conceived by Cambridge paramedic Bob Brotchie, involved putting the acronym ICE in front of your designated emergency contact.

Follow these hints to get the best out of ICE:

* Make sure the person whose name and number you are giving has agreed to be your ICE partner
* Make sure your ICE partner has a list of people they should contact on your behalf – including your place of work
* Make sure your ICE person’s number is one that’s easy to contact, for example a home number could be useless in an emergency if the person works full time
* Make sure your ICE partner knows about any medical conditions that could affect your emergency treatment – for example allergies or current medication
* Make sure if you are under 18, your ICE partner is a parent or guardian authorised to make decision on your behalf – for example if you need a life or death operation
* Should your preferred contact be deaf, then type ICETEXT then the name of your contact before saving the number
