Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Wednesday: I got off around 3 and ended up taking surface streets to avoid the horrific traffic on 80 East getting home. Snuck in some WoW time and then picked up my brother from the Greyhound station when he arrived.

Thursday: I drove us up to my dad’s new place in Lake Shastina, traffic was nice and light and it was wonderfully overcast the whole way there. We hung out and had a nice dinner.

Friday: We went to some other town to check out a couple stores and I got some fiber optic gems and some crystals and rocks. I fell in love with a huge chunk of Titanium Quartz Crystal…. only $11,000. :/

Saturday: Drove back early to get my brother to the bus on time for work that night. PH came over and helped me put my tree together and we went to Sears and I finally got myself the KitchenAid stand mixer I’ve been wanting for years. I got a couple Christmas dvds, one of which I had already and need to go return.

Sunday: Just slacked off playing WoW mostly. I woke up late for the event I was supposed to run, did that, and then went off on a looooong group through most of BRD.

Monday: Watched anime with MM and helped him bake my everything cookies for a meeting.
Tuesday: Watched Zoolander, it was ok.

Hmmm.

Well, my work week was good as I finally got to switch our site over to the new template!

Saturday I tried to go to this training thing…. but the lady told me the wrong hotel, and when I got home and found out the right hotel, in my rush to try to make it on time I locked myself out of the house. So instead I caught the Harry Potter movie with a friend which was good. But after eating and then going home for a nap I had Harry Potter themed nightmares, ugh.

I also found out that the relationship stuff that I was hoping for… but sorta figured wasn’t going to happen… isn’t going to. I hate being right.

And I realized that this will be my first Christmas in seven years with no boyfriend… and the family won’t be all together for Thanksgiving or Christmas now since dad just moved. So this is looking to be a quiet and somewhat depressing season when normally it’s my favorite time of year.

V-day report

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

Prior to Valentine’s Day when asked what my plans were my response was: I don’t know, CS is cooking me dinner but everything else is a surprise.

So now I know what the surprise was and can rave about my wonderful Valentine’s Day!
CS met me at my place (and took care of the kitties for me beforehand - food & litter) to take me back to his. So I got to ride to his place anticipating the surprise and enjoying being chauffered around (which I love since I hate driving with a desperate passion). I had been missing it actually since for the last two weekends I’d mostly driven myself. And of course I drove myself to work all last week and yesterday. So I was feeling particularly burned out on driving again. We spent most of the drive talking about romance and what it is.

On the way from the car to his place he claimed that he found my gift to him, and being gullible and trusting as I am I believed him… so he managed to trick me into telling him what part of his gift was. A little love monkey - it’s white with a red heart and a red lip print on it’s cheek. And he already read my love poem and got the gift I sent throught WoW mail early. He opened it before reading the “Don’t Open till Valentine’s Day!” in the subject line. So his dwarf was quite drunk for a while. :) Once we got to his apartment he made me close my eyes. I felt a bit silly, mostly because one of his roommates was there, but it was fun. When he let me open my eyes I got to see my surprise finally. I was so busy kissing him thank you that I didn’t actually tak it all in at first. He had a dozen red roses in a vase surrounded with baby’s breath (which I think is really pretty). A super soft white teddy bear next to the bouquet. He had two candles burning in the center of the table and pink and red balloons on the ends. There was also a big gold box which and an incredibly sweet card. As soon as he started making dinner I dug into the box and found Sherrie’s Berries (fancy absolutely delicious chocolate covered strawberries) and another little teddy bear. And I couldn’t resist trying to get one of the balloons to stick to his head with static cling, but it didn’t work too well. It was fun trying though. :)

We then had pasta for dinner - after I got to enjoy watching him in the kitchen as he prepared dinner while I relaxed on the sofa. He even picked up one of my favorite sodas to have with dinner - the Henry Weinhard’s root beer. And I managed to save room for more strawberries. After that we packed up and headed back to my house for the night. And the rest I’ll just have to remember without writing it down. ;)

Also, my friend Princess SP made me an adorable little valentine, and PH got me a rose and a pretty vase… well, he says it was for Cookie, but I’m the one who’ll appreciate it. And I made my own little flash e-card to send to my friends and family.

So today my little strawberry bear is sitting next to me and the flowers are on my desk where I can stop and smell them every time I get up from my desk.

So the end of my story is that this is the best Valentine’s Day I can remember having, and I think the best part was that he planned it all and surprised me.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Catching up to the new year

Monday, January 3rd, 2005

Today is January 3rd, so let’s see if I can remeber back to Dec. 23rd. I think Jourdan & I were practically the only ones here at work. We got in a few games of online settlers (http://jsettlers.com) and then were allowed to go home at 2pm. CS let me borrow his computer, so I settled in for some WoW alternated with a bit of cleaning.

Christmas eve followed that pattern as I got ready for company the next day. WoW - Chores - WoW - Chores.

Christmas day was fun and only a tad hectic. I played WoW till mom & her guy (D) & my brother & my mom’s renter showed up. With mom’s dog, D’s dog & kitten in tow. Due to the dogs showing up, a large hole in my fence was discovered - and the neighbor’s large (luckily friendly) dog who made it. It took him 3-4 days to actually fix the fence after promising to do it that night. He was lucky animal services didn’t answer the phone and that he got home before they did the 2nd time I called the homeowner to complain. I like dogs, but large ones barking at my glass door to be let in or fed & pooing in my backyard is not something I was willing to put up with long.

So lots of excitement with all the animals, dad & his wife brought their puppy too, so 7 people, 4 cats & 3 dogs enjoyed a happy holiday and tasty meal together.

The day after CS & I left for his grandma’s in Danville & we stayed there hanging out with his family and some friends back on break until his dentist appointment tuesday. Wednesday was the real start of my vacation, and almost all of it was spent reading or playing WoW. I got up to level 20 and got my cat form, which was my goal.

New year’s eve was spent at my place with friends playing board & card games with a toast at midnight - and then back to the WoW.

Fun trick - in this sentence, replace “crack” with “World of Warcraft” and “hit” with “level”:

Crack is very addicting. After you get a hit, you feel high, but after a while it wears off and leaves you wanting another hit.

So far no one has disagreed. But now it’s back to the regular work schedule and I’ll only get to play a few hours on the weekend now. Probably for the best.

Of special note: Momma now own’s her store! And I should be debt free by the end of this month or near the beginning of the next!

Things I’m proud of - I managed to cut back on my Christmas expenses this year. Sent out the cookies I promised late, but still before Christmas. Sent out fewer Christmas cards this year and got all but one (for lack of a stamp) mailed before Christmas. Actually relaxed on my vacation.

Things I wish I’d done - remembered to send out Christmas e-cards to all my friends & family. Remembered to call everyone to wish them a Merry Christmas &/or Happy New Year.

So all in all, I think last year was a good one, and this one is getting off to an awesome start!

Crazy busy!

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

No wonder I had to take a day of rest yesterday, I’ve been too crazy busy! Friday I had pizza & watched anime with CS. Then I got a hit of WoW in while CS & his roomies watched Dodgeball. I managed to cram a bit more WoW in the next morning before we headed out on the great SF trip. We ended up not having to drive which was nice. Found parking, decided against the 65-90 minute wait for Cheesecake Factory and found a tasty little Japanese place. Starbucks provided drinks and then we were off to Nordstrums. We all met up just across the street, but due to tiredness and parking garage closing at 6pm, there was a bit of a time crunch. So we hiked up 5 blocks or so, caught the California Cable Car line and once we were all in the same place (with me & CS hanging off the side - fun!!!), we sang jingle bells & frosty the snowman. The folks headed for J-town hopped off and we sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the way back.

Back at CS’s we managed to get together a game of Settlers - JR’s J won again… she does that quiet innocent thing too well. I gotta start keeping better track of points if I want to win again.

Sunday I got to play more WoW, I can feel the addiction attempting to take hold… and then CS’s roomie AJ & I went to get our nails done. It was fun and I like how my nails look… although I had to have a dent repaired before I left as I’d already messed one up. After that I was extra careful till I was sure they had set. Which made for me being mostly useless on the trip to Apple Hill for their tree. It sure was fun though! CS & JR had to fight the brambles to get to the tree AJ picked and chop it down. Tying it to the car took a good long while - but at least the tree never fell off on the trip home. I got some tasty fresh apples and CS shared his apple turnover with me since I liked it better than my struedel.

That night I went to my dad’s to celebrate his birthday with my him & his wife & my brother. It was fun, but tiring. Monday was work and I finally finished watching Maze - just plain weird little anime. I found it mildly amusing, but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Tuesday more work & CS brought over the Chronicles of Riddick which I enjoyed. Wednesday I was wiped and just stayed home to rest. Today was work and physical therapy for lunch and I took tomorrow off - woohoo!

Why I read my friend’s blogs

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

So I’m reminded of stuff like: Such as the million Santa march that came like droves of locusts upon the Square.

I totally forgot about all those Santas (and a penguin! some reindeer & grinchs too) going to Lefty O’doul’s. They were blocking traffic so of course the officer types in our group were hoping for a police smack-down. The cops did show up and start directing traffic. And like Frosty the Snowman, we had to hurry on our way (or risk JC’s car being locked in for the night).

Before my memory fails…

Friday - pizza & Jubei-chan: Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (disk 1 & 2), yummy & funny

Saturday - WoW, I’m now level 5. Haircut. More decorating. JP (from San Jose) showed up. Watched his Ai Yori Aoshi- Enishi. I liked it! Then PH & BH came over & cooked us dinner.

Sunday - some grocery shopping, then cookie baking, then PAR-TAY!!!!! Lots of food & goodies, boys played video games, and those of us who weren’t playing or watching that played Settlers. I’ve added Princess SP to the list of Settler fans. :) Just can’t resist those sheep! And then somehow we ended up playing the Karaoke game JP(from S.J.) brought. Chris made me sing - even though he had been doing the best so far, so I had to show him up. 98% great, 2 % good. Yeah baby! Then we did the gift exchange and the party broke up after that. I know I had a great time, and it seems like everyone else had fun too. I went to dinner with PH & S&TR & JP(fr:S.J.) at Hoa Viet and had a tasty soup.

Monday - sucked, been waking up tense the last 3-4 days. Got to work - ant invasion, yuck! went home early & took extra muscle relaxants and slept for four hours. Did watch some “Someday’s Dreamers” and then the second “Ikki Tousen” when CS got there.

Tuesday - lots of meetings and lunch at The Grad, where I had mostly fries since I forgot to ask for no mayo…. sigh…..
