Crazy busy!

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

No wonder I had to take a day of rest yesterday, I’ve been too crazy busy! Friday I had pizza & watched anime with CS. Then I got a hit of WoW in while CS & his roomies watched Dodgeball. I managed to cram a bit more WoW in the next morning before we headed out on the great SF trip. We ended up not having to drive which was nice. Found parking, decided against the 65-90 minute wait for Cheesecake Factory and found a tasty little Japanese place. Starbucks provided drinks and then we were off to Nordstrums. We all met up just across the street, but due to tiredness and parking garage closing at 6pm, there was a bit of a time crunch. So we hiked up 5 blocks or so, caught the California Cable Car line and once we were all in the same place (with me & CS hanging off the side – fun!!!), we sang jingle bells & frosty the snowman. The folks headed for J-town hopped off and we sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the way back.

Back at CS’s we managed to get together a game of Settlers – JR’s J won again… she does that quiet innocent thing too well. I gotta start keeping better track of points if I want to win again.

Sunday I got to play more WoW, I can feel the addiction attempting to take hold… and then CS’s roomie AJ & I went to get our nails done. It was fun and I like how my nails look… although I had to have a dent repaired before I left as I’d already messed one up. After that I was extra careful till I was sure they had set. Which made for me being mostly useless on the trip to Apple Hill for their tree. It sure was fun though! CS & JR had to fight the brambles to get to the tree AJ picked and chop it down. Tying it to the car took a good long while – but at least the tree never fell off on the trip home. I got some tasty fresh apples and CS shared his apple turnover with me since I liked it better than my struedel.

That night I went to my dad’s to celebrate his birthday with my him & his wife & my brother. It was fun, but tiring. Monday was work and I finally finished watching Maze – just plain weird little anime. I found it mildly amusing, but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Tuesday more work & CS brought over the Chronicles of Riddick which I enjoyed. Wednesday I was wiped and just stayed home to rest. Today was work and physical therapy for lunch and I took tomorrow off – woohoo!

Why I read my friend’s blogs

So I’m reminded of stuff like: Such as the million Santa march that came like droves of locusts upon the Square.

I totally forgot about all those Santas (and a penguin! some reindeer & grinchs too) going to Lefty O’doul’s. They were blocking traffic so of course the officer types in our group were hoping for a police smack-down. The cops did show up and start directing traffic. And like Frosty the Snowman, we had to hurry on our way (or risk JC’s car being locked in for the night).

Before my memory fails…

Friday – pizza & Jubei-chan: Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (disk 1 & 2), yummy & funny

Saturday – WoW, I’m now level 5. Haircut. More decorating. JP (from San Jose) showed up. Watched his Ai Yori Aoshi- Enishi. I liked it! Then PH & BH came over & cooked us dinner.

Sunday – some grocery shopping, then cookie baking, then PAR-TAY!!!!! Lots of food & goodies, boys played video games, and those of us who weren’t playing or watching that played Settlers. I’ve added Princess SP to the list of Settler fans. :) Just can’t resist those sheep! And then somehow we ended up playing the Karaoke game JP(from S.J.) brought. Chris made me sing – even though he had been doing the best so far, so I had to show him up. 98% great, 2 % good. Yeah baby! Then we did the gift exchange and the party broke up after that. I know I had a great time, and it seems like everyone else had fun too. I went to dinner with PH & S&TR & JP(fr:S.J.) at Hoa Viet and had a tasty soup.

Monday – sucked, been waking up tense the last 3-4 days. Got to work – ant invasion, yuck! went home early & took extra muscle relaxants and slept for four hours. Did watch some “Someday’s Dreamers” and then the second “Ikki Tousen” when CS got there.

Tuesday – lots of meetings and lunch at The Grad, where I had mostly fries since I forgot to ask for no mayo…. sigh…..

Thanksgiving Part II

Tuesday, November 30th, 2004

Saturday – J&SP came over and Princess S & CS helped prep the tree while JP & I worked on lunch. After some simple and tasty spaghetti J&SP put the lights on and then Princess S & I decorated the tree while the boys took over the sofas for naps. CS woke up and built a great railroad, but then when I was ready for him to build one around the tree, I guess all his creativity was used up since he just made a little square with rounded corners. See the Princess’ blog about Saturday for more. That night CS & I finished Seven Samurai, it was a good movie, but just sooooo long!

Sunday plans got changed a bit so I had time to have CS help me put up the outside lights, and man was it frigid out there! I could barely feel my finger when we finished. After CS left to hang out with his roomies and get some more WoW (World of Warcraft) in, PH stopped by. We went to get pics of his house, but not much has changed on the outside, most of the work going on is in the interior now. I then made him drive me to dad’s so we could all have Thanksgiving dinner together with the Thanksgiving leftovers. It was fun, good food, dad & his wife seem to be doing well, and PH got to meet the new puppy.

Yesterday CS took me out for lunch – yummy crepes! and then we checked out all the goodies at Cost Plus. He got rice candy for him and handmade candy canes for me. They aren’t as good as the big handmade candy cane I got from Dansk, but they are still better than the generic ones. And so cute!

Today I get to go to the dentist – fingers crossed that I finally get to go back to a regular schedule of only going twice a year. And then we’re having a going away lunch for a coworker. It actually worked out perfect, the dentist called to move my appointment forward so I should be able to get to the lunch on time. :) The bad thing is that I discovered that my heater is going out this morning, and if the repair costs too much I’m just going to get a new heat pump (combo heater/ac). Another big repair is not what I was wanting just as I was creeping my way out of debt. Heck, the only reason I’m not out of debt now is paying for replacing the roof! Sigh. Wish me luck!

Thanksgiving!

Where did I leave off? Well, I managed to get a ride to Santa Rosa with AP(f) Wednesday night. We left around 9:30pm and traffic was fine the whole way there. We talked the whole car ride so that made the trip go by quickly for me. And her adorable little mini-pinscher Charlie was with us, he was so cute! And I’d forgotten how soft dogs tongues are compared to my cats’ sandpaper ones. Thanksgiving was filled with cooking and eating and followed by watching Shrek 2 and staying up till midnight talking with my brother as my headache went away. Mom’s boyfriend made a really great smoked turkey too. All the food was yum and I had plenty of leftovers to bring home with me.

Friday morning we got off to a bit of a late start after enjoying some golden layers biscuits with honey butter for breakfast. That was followed by hours of running around and paperwork with lunch squeezed in as mom & I did bank stuff. They headed off home sometime after 5pm. Tree decorating was put off till Saturday and I headed off to CS’s to play some World of Warcraft and start watching Seven Samurai.

Look for Thanksgiving Part 2 coming soon to a blog near you!

Halloween Party – Oct. 23

Thursday, September 23rd, 2004

I’m such a ditz sometimes, but at least I finally managed to be decisive and just pick a date to have a party. I think I managed to invite everyone (that I had email addresses for) that lives sorta in the area. I should just post invites here and send out a quick note to check my blog instead of spamming people. I think I’ll try that for my Christmas party. In fact here is the invite:

I’m hosting an early Halloween party to kick off the holiday season. I think I’ve been reading too many Better Homes & Gardens magazines because I’m feeling inspired. I will be providing my hot mulled apple cider/plum wine concoction, in addition to whatever mixed drinks people want me to make from my currently too large stash of hard alcohol. Bring your own beers, soda, etc. I’ll probably also go overboard making cookies & getting candy and there will be cupcakes in case anyone with a birthday makes it. :) There will also be chips, salsa & lasagna & garlic bread for those who want real food. Feel free to contribute any other food/snacks.

Beyond that there are no specific plans, I’ve found that a great group of people + food + alcohol makes for very fun times, no matter what we end up doing. Anyone with a long drive home, or just too much alcohol in their system is welcome to stay the night, you might even convince me to make fresh pancakes for breakfast. :) I have a queen size air mattress, a twin guest bed, a sofa and a love seat, glide rocker & papasan, if we fill that up you’ll just have to settle for floor space. Feel free to bring a guest or two. RSVP would be nice.

And Part II, where I remember that a time would be nice:
Ok, I think time is the only thing I forgot, so I’m stealing someone else’s idea and starting things up around 2pm. You can show up earlier… but only if youwant to be put to work. :)
