Finally Friday

Friday, November 17th, 2006

And I’m still not ready for the family meal tomorrow! Lots of work to do tonight.

I tried taking the bike path home last night, but there are some nasty hills and way too many badly lit areas, so maybe I’ll try it again in the summer and see if there is a reasonable way home. I did see a poor little snakey trying to cross the bike path so I stopped and helped him slither off it so he wouldn’t get run over. Between the cold and the lack of anything on the path to really push against he was moving pretty slowly. So I just put my hands down and let him push off me to get off the path.

I managed unpack my (FIVE!) kitchen boxes last night, and it made me realize when I have the time/money I really want to remodel my kitchen. I prefer a raised bar to a dropped bar, and the bottom and top cabinets between the kitchen and dining room could really come out farther and give me way more storage. And I want drawers with a folding/expanding countertop between the fridge & stove. Plus the cabinets above the fridge need to be moved up anyway. And the corner cabinets need those rotating shelves to make better use of them. And I want that black shiny Silestone countertop (Stellar Night or Ebony Pearl). I like IKEA’s angled metal pillars for the raised bar. I’ll stick with the color scheme though since I really like it. Oh, and I want a shelf across the top of the kitchen window too, that’s level with the top of the other cabinets.

Counters
My arms have been itching in the evening the last couple days. In fact I bruised up my left arm pretty good scratching. I tried putting on lotion this morning to see if that helps and I’m going to look it up on WebMD too.

And I remembered my camera so I got some photos of those leaves I was admiring yesterday on the way in.

Linky stuffs: Post-it notes as wallpaper. And a post-it collage how to.

Dancing queen!

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

So an update:

Went to therapist last Wed. after which I talked to my boss and worked things out. So now I’m biking to work again and getting here on time and working 8 hour days. Monday I go to the two beginner classes and practice leading (or as I say, “I’m going to dance class to be a guy”) and Wed. I have continuing class and stay late to watch the intermediate class. The foxtrot and bolero stuff looked fun. Tonight is salsa, Friday T is going to stop by for stuff maybe, and MM is gonna come for dinner and/or anime maybe. Saturday I might go to Spotlight to dance, and Sunday I’m going to see my mom and my aunt and one of my cousins, and possibly my other cousin and her new baby if she’s not too tired.

Whew! So yeah, I’m keeping busy. I’m back down to 164, so 6 lbs down and 30 lbs to go till I’m back to my normal weight. Though I’m not sure if I’ll really get there with all this exercise since I’m building muscle. I just want my pants to fit again! Biking, stairs at work, dancing and 8 hour work days are tiring me out right now, I’m hoping with better diet and as I get in shape I’ll have more energy. But at least I do have the energy to work and dance, which I didn’t before.

Oh, and these look cool: http://www.digi-portraits.com/
I could probably do the same thing with enough practice… now finding the time to do so… ha!

I know people like NYC…

Moving along!

Bathrooms painted, ac installed, flooring going in 15-16th, moving the 19th-20th! /glee

In case the park won’t let me have an outdoor fire pit, I’ve been looking at indoor “fireplaces.”

fireplace 1These are way cool: http://www.ecosmartfire.com/
But… they’re $6-7k

fireplace 2 And this is less than $500:

From there I found all these:

iconhttp://www.au-my.com/english/Drivemocion.htm
I’ve been wanting something like this for ages! That or a gun with suction cup arrows with messages on flags you could shoot at passing cars… stuff like “DON’T PASS ON THE RIGHT!!!” and “Hello? Turn signal?” :P I don’t like driving… but what I really hate are other drivers. /sets her drivemocion to :(

I. Want.

Interesting site, but just too much to look at and can’t just browse the stuff.

http://wii.nintendo.com/
Ok, so dumb name aside this looks cool… thought I don’t know if I could get used to that controller. But really all I want is a version of Super Mario All Stars, Tetris (the original with those end animations!), Doctor Mario, and Yoshi’s Cookie. They never seem to come out with “classic” discs that play on the new players… and the old ones die and aren’t made anymore. I need to find some emulators and those games for it. And a controller for my computer.

carpethttp://www.emilianadesign.com/
The flying carpet is awesome… I should just get that and give in to my pillow fetish and get rid of chairs/sofas!

Artists erect giant pink bunny on mountain

An enormous pink bunny has been erected on an Italian mountainside where it will stay for the next 20 years.

The 200-foot-long toy rabbit lies on the side of the 5,000 foot high Colletto Fava mountain in northern Italy’s Piedmont region.

Viennese art group Gelatin designed the giant soft toy and say it was “knitted by dozens of grannies out of pink wool”.

Group member Wolfgang Gantner said: “It’s supposed to make you feel small, like Gulliver. You walk around it and you can’t help but smile.”

And Gelatin members say the bunny is not just for walking around – they are expecting hikers to climb its 20 foot sides and relax on its belly.

The giant rabbit is expected to remain on the mountain side until 2025.
